Mr. Yong-Kee Jun received the BS degree in Computer Engineering from Kyungpook National University (KNU), and the MS and PhD degree in Computer Science from Seoul National University (SNU). He was a research associate in Computer Science at Univ. of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), and a research staff in Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI).
Dr. Jun is now a full professor in Informatics, Gyeongsang National University (GNU), where he had served as the vice-dean of Academic Affairs (2003-2005), the first director of GNU Research Institute of Computer and Information Communication (RICIC), and the first operating director of GNU Virtual College of which system platform was developed by his team. He is now the head of GNU Computer Science Division, and the director of GNU Embedded Software Center for Avionics (GESCA) which is a national IT Research Center (ITRC) of South Korea.
As a scholar, he has produced both domestic and international publications developed by some professional interests including parallel/distributed computing, embedded systems, and systems software. His research has focused primarily on debugging concurrent programs, and proudly produced seven brilliant doctorates including Dr. Dong-Gook Kim (Meritech Co., Ltd.), Dr. Young-Cheol Kim (Int'l Univ. of Korea), Dr. Hee-Dong Park (Joong-Bu Univ.), Dr. Jeong-Si Kim (ETRI), Dr. So-Hee Park (Kyung-Sung Univ.), Dr. Mi-Young Park (Iowa State Univ., USA), and Dr. Young-Joo Kim (KAIST).
Prof. Jun is a member of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) since 1994 and IEEE Computer Society since 1982. Domestically, he is involved in two technical societies: a life member of Korea Information Science Society (KISS) as a director of the 17-th executive board and the 13-th chair of KISS Youngnam Regional Society; a life member of Korea Information Processing Society (KIPS) as a vice president of the 8-th executive board and the first chair of KIPS Youngnam Regional Society. He is also listed in Who's Who in the World since the 21st edition, 2004.
